On February 19th, the Texas Tech AGC Student Chapter competed in the ASC Region 5 Competition hosted by TEXO. Texas Tech was represented by 12 members of the Student Chapter, competing in the Commercial and Design-build categories. Each team was provided a previously completed project and was tasked with creating a company, assigning company roles for team members, estimating and scheduling the project, submitting an RFP, and making a presentation to the company team that originally constructed the project. Teams were also required to consider value-engineering, potential delays that may impact construction, safety concerns, and public interest in the project.

The annual competition provides the students with an opportunity for exposure to the practical applications of their studies and facilitates networking opportunities that will be beneficial in their future careers. These guys all did a great job, and we look forward to them joining us in the construction industry!
